Beyond Kizomba: Angola Cultural Trip (7th Edition)

 INTRO:
Welcome to the 7th edition of #BeyondKizomba, the cultural immersion program in Angola that is designed by Rui Djassi Morácen, the founder of the University of Kizomba initiative, in partnership with – and backed by the logistics support of – Kunanga Life, a legally registered Angolan cultural tourism agency.

NB: our trips are NOT kizomba dance festivals/marathons. If that is what you want, then we kindly recommend that you look elsewhere.

Our cultural immersion programs are tailor-made with kizomba/semba lovers mind, i.e. people who want to have a great time experiencing Angolan culture at the source BUT we include a vast array of activities/tours that are beyond just dancing. Yes, there will be plenty of dancing too but Angola has so much more to offer beyond kizomba/semba. Helping you explore that hidden, not-so-obvious yet precious side of our beloved country is the main reason why Kunanga Life was created.

Word-of-mouth and voluntary reviews/testimonials have been our main form of marketing so far. Nonetheless, we are in the process of revamping our social media pages with content from our previous 5 editions so you can have a glimpse at how much we have impacted people’s lives since our pilot trip in Oct 2022. Important Note: #BeyondKizomba trips are never a copy-cat of each other. The itinerary of activities/tours/outings, etc, changes from edition to edition and it is only finalized a few weeks before the trip starts. The organizers reserve the right to share the detailed program only with the confirmed trip participants who have registered to book their spots and fully paid the package fee.

 TRIP DATES:
 You can arrive at one of Luanda’s international airports (LAD or NBJ) at any time on Thu, 09 Oct. This first day is usually dedicated primarily to acclimatization, rest and recuperation from long intercontinental flights, foreign currency exchange, and overall settling into your new temporary environment. It will be the first official day of all program activities which typically begin some light social dancing in the evening.

 You can depart from one of Luanda’s international airports (LAD or NBJ) at any time on Mon, 20 Oct. Note that the last official group activities will take place on Sun, 19 Oct, so make sure to book your return flight for the following day.

Note that we always try to offer early check-in on your day of arrival but we can not guarantee it in advance. We will offer complimentary late check-out from the hotel on Mon, 20 Oct, so you can stay at the hotel until whatever time your return flight departs from Luanda.

Those attendees who have late-afternoon or evening flights on Monday can use their last hours in Luanda for souvenir shopping, resting, beach time, self-care (massages, nails, hair, etc) as well as for any last-minute private dance classes.

PS: airport pick-ups and drop-offs are included in your package regardless of the day and time you arrive/depart.

 PACKAGE DETAILS:
The price of the package is EUR 1.890 / USD 1,990 and it includes the following main items:

 Airport pick-up & airport drop-off;
 Hotel accommodation (11 nights);
 Three (3) meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner);
 ALL group daytime activities (incl. tours, visits, etc);
 ALL group nightlife activities (incl. access to dance parties and nightclubs);
 ALL group dance classes (incl. kizomba, semba, etc) – private classes are booked and paid separately out of pocket;
 Ground transportation for ALL group activities under the program.
 Airfares for domestic flights from Luanda to another province (if included in the program).

Note: the cost of airfares from your home city to Luanda are not included and therefore are to be borne by each participant individually. The same applies to private dance classes, medical care (hospital bills, if any), prescription pills, personal care (haircuts, hair braiding, pedicures, manicures, massages, etc) and any other extras that are not included in the standard package described above.

 PAYMENT PLANS:
To make your life easier, we can accept monthly payment plans with 0% interest. In order to be eligible for a payment plan, you have to:
 Fill the registration form online;
 Pay a non-refundable deposit of EUR 390 / USD 490 to secure your spot you and then;
 Pay a monthly installment of EUR 500 / USD 500 from 01 Aug until 01 Oct (i.e. 3 equal installments on the 1st day of the month).

 REGISTRATION:
The registration website link is now open to the public and starting from 25 Jul, the remaining 4 spots will be sold solely on a first-come-first-served basis:

You are required to fill the registration form first (free of charge) and then pay separately via one of the methods/platforms listed below. Again, you can choose to pay the full amount at once or by monthly installments.

Note: registration is INDIVIDUAL and you can only get 1 spot for yourself. In other words, one cannot fill the registration form on behalf of another trip attendee, even if you are romantic partners, married couple, travel buddies, siblings or dance instructor pair. If you do so, both registration forms will be immediately cancelled and any payments received will be duly refunded.

Alternatively, if you wish to make a wire transfer (in euros) to our Europe-based bank account or (in US dollars) to our USA-based bank account, please let us know so we can provide you with all the necessary details (IBAN, SWIFT code, etc, etc).

Note that, regardless of the method/channel/platform that you select to make payments (either in full upfront or via monthly installments), it is your sole responsibility to ensure that the net amount sent equals the due amount. If Kunanga Life receives anything less than the expect amount, you will be required to make an additional payment to cover for any applicable transaction/commission fees charged by your bank or financial institution.

 VISA INFO:
As of Oct 2023, there are over 100 countries whose citizens are now exempt from tourist visas to enter Angola. If you are unsure whether you will require a visa, please drop us a message/email using our contact details listed below and we will check/confirm for you.

If you do require a visa, we will support and guide you throughout the visa application process and we will provide you with a LOI (Letter of Invitation) as well as with the hotel reservation required for submittal of your application. However, it is each attendee’s individual responsibility to familiarize him/herself – and comply – with all the visa requirements listed on the website of the Angolan Embassy/Consulate in the country where you currently live, or where you intend to apply.

Note that, in some rare cases (depending on your nationality), you might be required to present proof of vaccination against Yellow Fever during your visa application process. There is no other mandatory requirement for vaccination (or any sort of pre-travel health screening) in order to board an international flight to Angola. However, we always recommend that you get advice from your family doctor or from your local travel clinic.

 MEALS & DRINKS:
Unlike most group trips to Angola, ours includes all 3 meals per day – breakfast at the hotel; lunch and dinner will be a combination of hotel restaurant and other restaurants around the city, i.e. depending on the location of the activities planned for each day.
All meals – regardless of the location – include at least 1 drink, which can be a beer or sodas or mineral water.
Meals outside of the hotel will also include drinks, which can be anything (alcoholic or non- alcoholic beverages), provided that the cost of the meal for each person does not exceed a reasonable amount to be stipulated by the organizers.

 ACCOMMODATION INFO:
The lodging hub for this trip will be at one of the best hotels Luanda has to offer in its city center, located in one the safest neighborhoods, with 24/7 security guards, extremely friendly staff, a vibrant atmosphere, and most importantly: within 5-10 minutes from downtown attractions and all major evening dance spots/clubs.

Part of the reason why this all-inclusive 12-day package is so affordable is that the cost is based on a shared room arrangement (1 king/queen-size bed or 2 single beds). Therefore, we recommend that participants register in pairs so that they can share the room with another person that they already know well and/or feel comfortable with.

However, even if you do not have/find a suitable travel companion to join you on this trip, we will do our best to pair you with a same-gender roommate provided that there is mutual consent between you two. We have done 3 times already and everyone loved their assigned roomies.

Otherwise, arrangements can potentially be made for a single-room stay if there is availability. However, be mindful that if you pursue this option, you would have to:

(i) incur additional costs;
(ii) sign a separate liability waiver.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
 Regardless of the payment method that you choose, you are required to fill out the brief registration form (and to agree to the T&Cs) on our Ticket Leap website link before you send us the 1st payment.

 Due to the nature of our business, we cannot accept refunds because we have to commit to certain costs upfront taking into account the total number of confirmed attendees for each trip. If you decide to take advantage of our interest-free payment plan, be aware that installments are non-refundable. However, in case you cannot attend this edition due to any unforeseen or last-minute circumstances, you will be automatically allocated a spot in our next available cultural trip (May 2026) and your total amount paid will be credited accordingly. Note that we reserve the right to deduct a handling/penalty fee of $350/€350 from your payment in case of late cancellations and you may also have to pay a balance in case the cost of our BK packages increase in 2026.
